Come celebrate the joy of the written word in Brooklyn.
Under the rubric of the Arts in Bushwick organization, which promotes free and open dissemination of work from artists of all levels of proficiency and professionalism, Slice magazine and Vol. 1 Brooklyn present Bushwick Open Pages, an independent publishing fair. Bushwick Open Pages will be held on June 5th and 6th, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Third Ward’s Morgan Ave. location.
To hold true to the ideals of all sponsoring organizations, the fair will non-hierarchically embrace any independent publications from the greater Brooklyn area, including literary magazines, culture magazines, self-published zines, letterpress projects, and online publications. The end goal is to briefly “collapse” the Brooklyn publishing world, showcasing side-by-side publications at every level of professionalism and income. Along with introducing many vibrant literary projects to a wide audience, Bushwick Open Pages seeks to foster cross-pollination between the literary arts world and arts in other media, while fostering a sense of camaraderie amongst all who work in the field.
